& i will bet you five hundred million dollars that in at least half of the f/f fics the f/f is a subpairing to the m/m bcs they paired the spares
Note: this post was originally made in 2010 in response to Diana Gabaldon’s epic rant about fanfiction. The original version is still being updated. I’m reposting it to Tumblr by request, but if you have any additions, please feel free to drop a comment at LJ so they can be added to the masterpost!
Dear Author of the Week,
You think fanfic is a personal affront to the many hours you’ve spent carefully crafting your characters. You think fanfic is “immoral and illegal.” You think fanfiction is just plagiarism. You think fanfiction is cheating. You think fanfic is for people who are too stupid/lazy/unimaginative to write stories of their own. You think there are exceptions for people who write published derivative works as part of a brand or franchise, because they’re clearly only doing it because they have to. You’re personally traumatized by the idea that someone else could look at your characters and decide that you did it wrong and they need to fix it/add original characters to your universe/send your characters to the moon/Japan/their hometown. You think all fanfic is basically porn. You’re revolted by the very idea that fic writers think what they do is legitimate.
We get it.
Congratulations! You’ve just summarily dismissed as criminal, immoral, and unimaginative each of the following Pulitzer Prize-winning writers and works:

[WHY SO MUCH SLASH (Fanfic Flamingo) BUT SO LITTLE FEMSLASH]
I have read all the femslash in four large fandoms and the most time-consuming part was locating it.
(I did! Not many memories of the plot details, more of the ladies, but.
And weeeeeeell we don’t have that kind of bands in France so hm I tried to manage ??)
“No, Ed, don’t even think of it,” Winry says, and though the fact she’s focusing on fixing Paninya’s trumpet as its valves have gone wild could mean she’s not serious about Ed, everyone knows better than this - her decision is final.
Ed grunts something about style and open-mindness and school not allowing creativity and himself not being understood and leaves with much noise after throwing the sheet he had brought with him.
While Paninya decides to pick the crumpled piece of paper, covered with uniform sketches, Winry and Alphonse doesn’t have to look up to guess said parade uniform would have been a bit too much for the school.
(I’ve … never really watched that kind of shows but I hope this will work? Raw and unbeta-ed !)
“This is getting really weird,” her film camera operator finally says when they’re back and alone in the car, pointing right at the dots on their maps - they’ve been traveling through Amestris for a while now (fortunately their trip is paid by the company) and all the places where they’ve collected testimonies are slowly forming the beginning of a circle.
She shakes her head, trying to push away that feeling she has - the one that suggests her to cancel this report, because she doesn’t want to get involved into something more than their usual stuff of haunted houses and moving chairs and so-called ghost of a neighbor’s cat.
And neither does she want to investigate more on that strange guy everyone tells them about - long blond hair, beard and glasses - who seems to have got ahead of them everywhere they’ve asked questions, sometimes months or years before, and sometimes way before that - but no one can live for centuries, right ?
- opens FMA volumes 22 to 27 in order to check some details for her Ladyfest
- obviously spends more time on some OTP parts than the ones she was looking for
- drowns in feels
- writes nothing

[WRITE SPANISH FF ONLY. DISCOVER AO3. (Fanfic Flamingo) CRY BECAUSE ENGLISH IS NOT YOUR MAIN LANGUAGE AND NO ONE WOULD READ YOUR SPANISH FICTION]
It sucks when spanish based Archives suck nowadays and the best place you find to read/publish FFs is not in your main language. I mean, I can perfectly read English ffs, and I could write some… but I am not exactly good in English writing, especially because, being Latin American, I don’t really know how to twist words in order to create an epic story. I tried, but I just can’t. :(

The Flamingo advises posting your fic in Spanish to AO3 anyway - there’s a chance it WILL find readers there even if you don’t think so! Give it a try maybe?
Anyway, FYFF is a great site, most of them fit us spanish writers too :D we’re all fangirls at heart.
Change Spanish with French and you’ve got it](http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m5gumxiLIl1qi6haxo1_400.jpg)
